PANEL ON AI AND HEALTH.png

The McGill Policy Association’s events team aims to create a community where students from different disciplines can come together to talk policy.

We have planned several events, from panel discussions to case competitions to policy labs, socials, and more. We explore many areas of policy, such as artificial intelligence, privacy, free speech regulation, the environment, healthcare, transit, and more.

ANNUAL EVENTS AND DISCUSSIONS

Policy Labs: Our policy labs involve group work on addressing a specific policy topic either at McGill or in the broader Montréal community. The lab will include brief explanations of the topics, followed by open conversation. MPA will use the discussion outcomes to draft a policy report, incorporating the students’ thoughts and views into the document.

Case Competitions: We believe that experiential learning is an essential component of skills development. The MPA Case Competition is our flagship annual event; it brings together students from across McGill’s faculties to create solutions to policy problems, and to present their work to a panel of expert policy practitioners.

Panel Discussions: Our policy panel discussions offer in-depth discussions on public policy and an opportunity to network with experts in the field. Past speakers include Christopher Ragan, chair of Canada’s Ecofiscal Commission, research director Colin Busby from the Institute for research on Public Policy (IRPP), and former president of the Montreal Economic Institute (MEI), Michel Kelly-Gagnon.

Socials: We also plan many socials throughout the year to keep students engaged in discussions of policy, even outside the classroom.
