Land and natural resources are one of the most fundamental assets for sustainable economic development in Canada. The government must ensure that indigenous voices and perspectives are included and prioritized in the development of policies that affect and shape our economic trajectory and natural resource allocation. By ensuring that indigenous people are present and vocal in decision-making processes, we can establish environmentally and economically beneficial practices for the development of natural resources.
On Wednesday, November 9th, the McGill Policy Association hosted a panel discussion on indigenous voices in resource-sector policy. Whether students were interested in resource-sector policy, the role indigenous voices play in sustainable growth, or wanted to familiarize themselves with these topics, we welcomed all who are curiously driven and eager to learn.
We had Yolanda Lopez-Maldonado and Jen Gobby as our panelists.
